Elaine Burleigh

Elaine Hope Burleigh a life long resident of rural Gordon died Friday December 1, 2017, at Pioneer Manor Nursing Home in Hay Springs.

Elaine was born March 14, 1924, in Gordon, Nebraska to Carl and Alice Sasse.

On December 30, 1951, she married Darwin Burleigh and to this union three children were born. Elaine enjoyed gardening and cooking.

Survivors include her daughters Nancy Reutter and Marsha Burleigh both of Gordon, her son David (Madonna) Burleigh of Omaha, and her grandsons Daniel (Madysen) Reutter and son Silas Darwin of Lincoln, Brad (Melissa) Burleigh and daughters Adyson Riley and Harper Vivian of Bellevue and Jason (Tara) Burleigh and daughters Hanna Irene and Samia Elaine of Council Bluffs. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Jerry (Bobbie) Burleigh of Gordon, sister-in-law Eleanor (Dean) Strasburger of Ellsworth, sister-in-law Agnes Sasse of Gordon and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Darwin, parents Carl and Alice Sasse, sisters Mary and Martha and brothers Carl, Stan, Chuck and Lynn.

A memorial has been established for the Pioneer Manor Nursing Home and donations may be sent in care of First National Bank, PO Box 290, Gordon, NE 69343.
