Sandy Redman

Sandra Sherene Redman, 70, of Gordon, Nebraska passed away at home on Thursday, June 22, 2017, surrounded by family after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Sandy was born November 12, 1946 in Belle Fourche, SD to William and Helen Tripp. She graduated from Belle Fourche High School in 1964 and attended Black Hills State College in Spearfish.

Sandy was united in marriage on November 21, 1966 to Michael Starr. They had 9 children and raised them in Belle Fourche until Mike unexpectedly passed away on April 13, 1987. Sandy and William Redman were united in married on December 15, 1988 in Belle Fourche and blended their two families and had two additional children of their own. They continued to live in Belle Fourche until moving to Gordon, NE in July of 1998.

Sandy was a member of the LDS church and enjoyed teaching Sunday School and attending Relief Society. She worked as a senior tax advisor for H & R Block in the Rapid City and Gordon offices since 1994. She loved to travel and spend time with her family. She also had a special place in her heart for Molly (her puppy).

Sandy was preceded in death by her parents William and Helen Tripp, her late husband Michael Starr, a daughter Courtney Rae Starr, a brother Terry Tripp and a grandson Monty Green.

She is survived by her husband William Redman, her brother Ellis Tripp and her children; Teena (Kenan) Huber, Spearfish, SD, Suzy Starr, Pierre, SD, Scott Starr, Belle Fourche, SD, Julia (Mark McRann) Starr, Glenrock, WY, Linda (John) Cottrill, Spearfish, SD, Billy (Misti) Starr, Gordon, NE, Katie Starr, Pierre, SD, Bobby Starr, Gordon, NE, David Redman, Hollywood, CA, Kassie Redman, Pierre, SD, Bill (BJ) (Laura) Redman, Mansville, TX, and Lynda (Jim) Lillwitz, Aurora, CO. She is also survived by 31 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 27, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at Chamberlain-Pier Funeral Home in Gordon, NE. Private ceremony services will be held at 3:30 p.m. June 27, 2017 at Kline Funeral Chapel in Belle Fourche. Interment will follow at Pine Slope Cemetery, Belle Fourche, SD. There will be a visitation on Monday June 26, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Chamberlain-Pier Funeral Home in Gordon, NE. A memorial has been established for Storybook Island in Rapid City, SD and donations may be sent in care of Chamberlain-Pier Funeral Home, PO Box 366, Gordon, NE 69343.
