Her interests were varied and lively. She loved playing bridge and enjoyed being a member of the Chadron Culture Club, Birthday Club, American Legion Auxiliary, and the Chadron Prep Alumni. Shirley was a gifted storyteller, and she loved a good joke. There are no photographs of her without her trademark smile. In typical Shirley fashion, her favorite saying was: “For those who love us love them. For those who hate us, ask the Lord to turn their hearts. If her cannot turn their hearts, ask Him to turn their ankle so we will know them by their limp.” This is the Shirley we will miss the most.
Shirley is survived by her sons: Ron (Linda), Larry, Rick (Cindy), her daughter Karen (Steve) Liebentritt; her grandchildren: Tom (Maryanne), Laura, Ryan (Cassie), Jeff, and Jamie (Ryan) Brown. She had five and a half great grandchildren: Katelyn, Luke, Cody, Kaiden, Kendal, and “Next.” She has her sister Shannon (Richard) Thompson and brother Gary.
