Marilyn Belschner

March 7, 1930 ~ December 23, 2018 (age 88)

Marilyn Belschner, formerly of Amherst, Nebraska and Taos, New Mexico, died on December 23, 2018 at the age of 88, in her home of the last five years in Chadron, Nebraska.  In addition to her two daughters, Vicki Papineau (Rick) and Shawn Cogdill (Rex), four grandchildren, and twelve great grandchildren, Marilyn left a legacy of her artwork.

She was a self-taught artist and attended domestic and international workshops to develop her style and talent.  During her years as an artist she illustrated books in pen and ink, worked with oils, watercolors, and sculpture.  She attended seventeen art workshops, was represented by eleven art galleries and had countless exhibits and showings over a fifty-year period.  Her passion was creating portraits, the human face, with pastels.  Her work will remain at the Museum of Nebraska Art (MONA), the Hastings Museum, the archives of the National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington, D.C.;; her website and hundreds of private collections across the country.

It was Marilyn’s request to have no services.  Her cremains will be buried at Stanley Cemetery, Buffalo County, with her parents, Margaret and Marion Fuller, of Kearney, Nebraska.
