Al Rasmussen, 74, of Chadron, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on December 12th, 2025. Born on June 18, 1951, in Sidney NE, Al was the son of Frank and Kathryn Rasmussen. He attended Kimball High School and graduated from Kearney State College. He met Connie (Scheopner) in Kimball where she was teaching. They were married on July 30, 1977 and moved to Glennallen, Alaska where their children, Kelsey and Dane, were born. He worked as an educator, a bush pilot, and in the oil industry in Alaska before moving to what would become the family farm in Chadron. He was a farmer for 45 years and enjoyed mentoring and encouraging multiple young people throughout his life. He was active in the ag community, Rural Fire Department, 4-H, Lions Club, and was a board member for the Upper Niobrara White Natural Resource District. “Big Al” loved his life on the farm with his family. He was known for his hard-working yet mischievous nature, sense of humor, and fun-loving personality. He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Rita Wagner, and his brother Lee. He is survived by his wife Connie, children Kelsey (Clayton) Fawcett, and Dane (Alyssa), sister Barb Barker, grandchildren (Alexandra, Kade and Vivian) and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on December 18th at 10:00 am at St Patrick's Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Rural Fire Protection District or St Patrick’s Catholic Church.
