Allen Shepard

Allen B. Shepard, age 78 of Rushville, Nebraska, died January 21, 2020, at his home in Rushville.

Allen was born on November 29, 1941 to Lester and Florence Shepard in Rushville, Nebraska.  He graduated from Rushville High School in 1960 and later from Milford Trade School. Allen married LaVera Reinmuth on June 26, 1966 in Rushville, Nebraska. Together they moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where they adopted their daughter, Christina. Allen worked for Sunshield Awning in Las Vegas from which he retired after approximately 30 years. Allen and LaVera then relocated back to Rushville, Nebraska at the end of 2005.

Allen was a Vietnam veteran where he served in the U.S. Army as a part of the “Big Red One” division and was awarded both infantry and Vietnam medals.

He was involved in the Optimist Club in Las Vegas, Nevada and was a member of the United Methodist Church in Rushville, Nebraska.

Allen is preceded in death by his parents, brother Thomas Shepard, father-in-law Floyd Reinmuth, mother-in-law Ida Reinmuth, and two brothers-in-law, Gerald and Dale Reinmuth.

Allen is survived by his wife LaVera Shepard; his daughter Christina (Lee); his sisters, Julie Ryan of Meadville, Pennsylvania, Linda Hanna (Ken) of Meadville, Pennsylvania, Jane Williams (Jim) of Las Vegas, Nevada, Lois Farmer of Newnan, Georgia; a brother Jim Shepard of Las Vegas, Nevada; and his grandchildren, Jeremy, Alyssa, Cody, Kayla, and Skyler; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 30, 2020 at the Morse Memorial Methodist Church in Rushville, Nebraska with Pastor Paul Smith officiating.  Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Chamberlain-Pier Funeral Home.
