Beverly Hines

Beverly A. Hines passed away on June 12, 2026 at her home in Tuthill with her loving husband by her side. She was 89 years old.

Beverly was born on October 30,1936 to Nelson (Johnny) and Alice (Kahler) Smith. She attended a country grade school south of Colome. She attended Bennett County High School graduating in 1954. After high school she worked at the Bennett County Booster as a type setter and at Bob’s Steakhouse as a waitress.

Beverly was united in marriage to Kenneth Hines on July 25, 1955. To this union 3 children were born: Steve, Karen and Kelly.

Beverly lead a very active life. She joined the Tuthill Community Presbyterian Church in 1955 and held numerous positions of elder, clerk and Sunday school teacher. She was involved in county 4-H and was a leader for a number of years. She was a member of the Bennett/Shannon Homemakers, Town and County Extension Club, United Presbyterian Women’s Association and ESA. One of her favorite joys was loading up a car full of giggling/chatty women and heading off to an event.

Beverly enjoyed her flower garden, vegetable garden and preserving the produce. She was an avid seamstress – completing a quilt for each of her grandchildren. She enjoyed painting ceramics and developed quite an art of painting. She enjoyed family time and preparing delicious holiday meals. Her greatest joy in life was her Christian journey and spending quality time with her family.

She is survived by her loving husband Kenny, her son Steve and wife Kim ( Novak) of Spearfish, daughter Karen and husband Marcus of Belle Fourche, son Kelly and wife Lisa (Haberman) of Moorcroft.

Grandchildren: Corey Hines, Alex, Darcey and Christian Buresh, Kasey Thomas, Zach Ulmer and Noah Hines. And 9 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Johnny and Alice. Her brothers Marlin, Vaughn and Harold Smith. Her sister-in law Joyce Smith. Grandson Codey Hines and nephew Doug Smith.

Memorials will be established for the Tuthill Cemetery and the Tuthill VFD.
