Bill Lux

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of William "Bill" Lux, age 41, who was taken from us far too soon in a tragic accident.

Bill was a cowboy, a rancher, a volunteer firefighter, and, above all, a good and honest man. He lived his life with integrity and a genuine love for the people around him. He was the kind of person whose word could be trusted and whose handshake meant something.

His love of ranching and the cowboy way of life was woven into who he was. He understood the value of hard work, looking after what was entrusted to him, and lending a hand when someone needed it. He carried those same values into his service as a firefighter, giving his time and courage to help protect his neighbors, his community, and many beyond.

But perhaps his greatest legacy will be the people he loved. Bill was devoted to his family and the friendships he made throughout his life. In a small community where neighbors become family, he was blessed with many friends who were truly brothers to him. He gave freely of himself, and the love and loyalty he showed others were returned many times over.

He was also looking forward to the future. He was about to formally propose to the woman he loved, Katie, making his sudden passing all the more heartbreaking. There were plans still to be made, dreams still to be lived, and a lifetime of memories still to be created.

Though his life was far too short, the impact he made will not be measured in years. It will be measured in the people he helped, the lives he touched, the fires he answered, the work he did, the friendships he built, and the love he gave.

Bill will be deeply missed by his family, his beloved friends, his fellow firefighters, and all those fortunate enough to have known him. His boots may be empty, but the example he set will remain.

He is preceded in death by his father, Wayne and his grandparents, Gerald and Alice Lux, and Art and Charlotte Pierson. He is survived by his mother, Patti; his sister, Molly; Katie, his fiancée; along with his two aunts, four uncles, and their families.

Rest easy, cowboy. You were one of the good ones, and you will never be forgotten.
