Bonnie Lea Reed, 69, of Alliance, died Thursday, June 26, at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. Bonnie was born on November 21, 1944, in Chamberlain, South Dakota, and moved to a family homesteaded farm near Belvidere, South Dakota, with her parents, James and Ruth (Feyereisen) Barr, when she was 5. She attended school in Belvidere where she was the homecoming queen. Bonnie moved to Alliance in 1965 before attending the Alliance School of Practical Nursing in 1968. She started working for Dr. Dewey Shannon after school and retired from Copsey Clinic after 35 years of devoted service to Dr. Shannon and her patients. Bonnie married Donald Reed on February 18, 1971 in Rushville, Nebraska. She had three children: Lori, Shelly, and Jim. Bonnie enjoyed spending time and cooking with her children and family, music, movies, vacations to the beach in Florida, and sharing memories with her many friends. Survivors include her husband Don, Alliance; daughter Lori (Bruce) Cordell, Panama City Beach, FL; and Jim (Shayla) Reed, Tampa, FL; 3 nieces, a nephew, a grandchild, and two great grandchildren. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, James and Ruth Barr; sisters Rita Blom and Carol Polander; niece Shannon Blom, and daughter Michelle Washburn. Pallbearers will be John Marx, Tom Broeder, Rodney Furman, Allen Sheperd, Jack Anderson, and her nephew Mike Blom. Honorary pall bearers will be Nathan Lore, Dr. Tom Furman, and Matthew Steggall. The family requests that any donations be made to the Alliance Hospice or the Traumatic Brain Injury Foundation in Bonnie's name. Donations may be sent to Chamberlain Chapel, PO Box 970, Chadron, NE 69337.
