William Bruce Corbin was a lifetime resident of Crawford. He was born on January 16, 1935 to Luther Clayton (Red) and Catherine Jones (Corbin) Leetch. Bruce was the first born of four to this union. He attended Crawford Public Schools. He was united in marriage to Joann Whipple on January 16, 1953. From this union, they had five children.
Bruce worked at many positions before taking a job with the State of Nebraska, Department of Roads. Upon retirement, he continued to work at recycling, his favorite hobby.
He enjoyed helping others and going to coffee with family and friends. His greatest pride was his children.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Joann; sisters Shirley Deichert and Karen Serres; brothers-in-law Anthony Deichert, Bryan Sanford, Danny Dexter, Gene Whipple and Warden McLaughlin; sisters-in-law Nordelle Fellows, Jackie McLaughlin, Ruby Lee McLaughlin and Elsie Dexter.
His survivors include his special companion Barb Ferguson and family; children Billie (Steve) Serres of Chadron, NE, Betty (Doug) Bunge of Talbott, Tennessee, Luther (Rusty) Corbin of Crawford, NE, Barbara (Bob) Limbach of Lincoln, NE, and Randy Corbin of Crawford, NE; his grandchildren, Terry Serres, John Serres, Stephanie Casey, Douglas Bunge II, William Bunge, April Shippy, Zachary Limbach, Zane Limbach and Zalie Prosser; 23 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; sister Janice German; brothers-in-law, Floyd Serres, John McLaughlin, Kenneth Avis; sisters-in-law, Shirley Avis; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial has been established for Crawford Rescue Unit. Donations may be sent to Chamberlain Chapel, PO Box 970, Chadron, NE 69337.
