Funeral Services for Charles Hamar of Crawford, Nebraska will be held Friday, September 17, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Chamberlain Chapel in Chadron, Nebraska. Burial will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Chadron, Nebraska.
Charles Edwin Hamar, 66, passed away Tuesday September 7, 2021 in Englewood, Colorado. He was born April 14, 1955 to Oliver and Charlotte (Gallino) Hamar in Valentine, Nebraska. He was raised in Chadron, Nebraska and graduated from Chadron High School in 1974. He joined the army and was honorably discharged. He would then attend tech school in Lincoln, Nebraska for a year.
June 19, 1976, he was united in marriage to Valorie Jean Otto and moved to Wahoo, Nebraska where he was employed at Darling International for 43 years. Of this marriage came three children, Amanda, Katie, and Derek.
In 2020, Charles retired after 43 years and moved back home as a single man to Crawford, Nebraska where he resided until his death. He volunteered a big portion of his time at the Food Pantry in Crawford, Nebraska helping others. He would ride around town and spend alot of his time with his best friend Ronnie Thompson.
He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, family gatherings at his sister's and niece's homes, football games, watching WWE and old westerns, driving his truck, and telling stories to his grandbabies about his childhood.
He is survived by his children, Amanda Sowards(Nick Rogers), Katie Hamar, and Derek(Kayla) Hamar; grandchildren, Isaiah, Bentley, Peyton Oppelt, Isabella and Jacob Hamar, Harmony Lee; siblings, Judy(Mitch)Wright, Rhonda (Ed-Deceased)Smallwood, Teddy Hamar, Vera Holden, Rigena(Cecil)Roberts, and Vinell(Dale)Peterson, best friend Ronnie(Marcy) Thompson, many nieces and nephews, friends and extended family.
He is proceeded in death by his parents, Oliver and Charlotte Hamar; brother Dwight Hamar; and stepmother, Tillie Hamar.
A memorial has been established and donations may be sent in care of
Chamberlain Chapel, PO BOX 970, CHADRON, NE 69337.
