David Gillette

David Arthur Gillette (Dave), 78, passed away at his home near Chadron, Nebraska, on the morning of May 4, 2026. His wife, Carrie Lundberg was at his side.

David was born in Denver, Colorado on December 29, 1947, to Justin Thomas (Jack) & Jeanne Eleanor Gillette. He was the second of three children. His older sister, Melinda Sue Gillette, lives in Denver, Colorado; his younger sister, Darienne Raye (Denny) Gillette preceded him in death in 2010. David moved to Nebraska in 1991, living in Dalton where he and Carrie met. They married on June 8, 2006, and split their time between Dalton and Chadron until 2016, when David moved to Carrie’s home in Chadron.

In addition to family, David loved plants, Studebaker cars, and cats, not necessarily in that order, making a profession of the first as a greenhouse owner and later as a mail order source for orchids and day lilies.

David is survived by his wife Carrie, sister Melinda of Denver, his daughter Rebecca of Denver, Colorado, son Kiki of Kimball, NE, and step son Nathaniel of Hay Springs NE, and 4 grandchildren.

Services will be held on Friday, May 22, 2026, at 11 AM at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, South Dakota.
