Dean Edward Strasburger was born to William and Elsie Strasburger on April 11, 1928 in Alliance, Nebraska. He passed away peacefully on July 21, 2020 at ninety-two years of age, surrounded by his wife and daughters.
As a boy Dean attended the Spade School District 131. He remembers faithfully attending Sunday school and church with his parents, as well as bible school every summer. When he was in his early teens, he went to camp at Chadron State Park where he accepted Christ and was baptized in the Niobrara River. For his sophomore and junior years of high school Dean went to a boarding school in Curtis, Nebraska, and then finished high school his senior year in Gordon.
After high school Dean continued to work on his father’s ranch. When he was twenty-two, Dean married Eleanor Burleigh on September 10, 1950. They were blessed with four daughters and enjoyed the next 70 years ranching and spending time with their children and grandchildren. He had a great love for sports, especially baseball, hockey, and horseshoes. He also enjoyed fishing, golfing, and bowling with his family. He loved the Rockies and the Huskers.
Dean attended Pleasant Point Church where he re-devoted his life to Christ and served many years with the youth ministry, on the board, and as a Sunday school teacher.
Preceding Dean in death were his parents; two infant daughters; sisters Pearl Kroeze and Ethel Andrick; brothers Wes and Elbert Strasburger; son-in-law Scott Hare; and great grandchildren Eli Hunter, Bridger Krebs, and Christine Courville.
Dean will be missed by his wife Eleanor of 70 years; daughters Vicki (Don) Courville, Dena (Gene Hunting) Hare, Karen (Paul) Simmons, and Donna (Rodney) Johnson; 18 grandchildren and 41 great grandchildren; brother Pat (Vesta) Strasburger, nieces and nephews, as well as numerous other friends and loved ones.
Dean wanted everyone to know that the greatest decision you will ever make in life is to ask Christ into your life, so that your name will be written in the book of life. Eternity is a long time.
