Dianna Christine BoninNovember 6, 1951 – May 7, 2026

Dianna Christine Bonin, 74, of Chadron, Nebraska, passed away on May 7, 2026. She was born on November 6, 1951, in Olean, New York.

Dianna, lovingly known as “Granny”, dedicated her life to being a homemaker and caring for the people she loved most. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the center of her world, and she made every holiday, visit, and family gathering feel special. Whether she was working on a jigsaw puzzle, crocheting blankets made with love, putting together thoughtful goodie baskets, or simply checking in with family far away, Granny always found ways to make people feel cared for.

She especially loved spending time in Deadwood with her beloved John, making memories together and enjoying life’s simple pleasures. Granny also enjoyed playing games on her computer, family picnics, butterflies, and cheering on her favorite team — the Denver Broncos. Her many cats brought her comfort and companionship throughout the years.

Granny is survived by her love, John McDowell; her daughter Danette (Damon); sons Tony (Laci), Jim, and Chris (Michelle); daughter-in-law Angie; grandchildren Valerie (Mike), Kristina, Courtney, Bryce, Brinnley, Edwin, Kylan, and Micaela; great-grandchildren Tempie, Ella, Rhett, Hudson, and Reggie; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Luzier Preston; her father, Albert Francis Bonin; her brothers, Terry Bonin, and Albert Francis Bonin Jr. (“Frank”); and her infant daughter, Valery Vines.

The family would also like to extend a special thank you to Dr. McLain for his wonderful care, kindness, and support over the years.

Per Granny’s wishes, the family will gather for a picnic celebration of her life at a later date.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for her warm heart, thoughtful spirit, and unwavering love for her family.
