Douglas "Doug" Hinkley, a beloved father, brother, and son, passed away on May 21, 2023, at the age of 58 in Rapid City, South Dakota. Born on April 16, 1965, in Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin, Doug led a remarkable life filled with love, laughter, and meaningful connections.

In his early years, Doug attended high school in Alliance, Nebraska. Alongside his studies, he found great joy in playing football. It was during this time that his character began to shine through. Known for his incredible sense of humor and infectious laughter, Doug would brighten any room he entered.

After graduating from high school, Doug embarked on a fulfilling career in construction. He dedicated his time and skills to building structures that would stand the test of time. His commitment to his work was unwavering and inspired those around him.

While Doug excelled professionally, his true passion resided within the loving embrace of his family. He cherished every moment spent with his daughter Madison Hinkley as they embarked on countless adventures together. Whether it was exploring new places or engaging in various activities, their bond remained unbreakable.

Aside from family time with Madison, Doug took pleasure in collecting rocks and fossils. His collection grew over the years and became a testament to his curiosity for the world around him. Additionally, he had an avid appreciation for John Wayne movies and often found solace in losing himself within the narratives brought to life on screen.

Doug's love for travel was evident throughout his lifetime. His adventurous spirit led him to explore different places and experience diverse cultures firsthand. From serene beaches to captivating historical sites, he treasured every destination visited and carried the memories within his heart.

The spirit of service also burned bright within Doug's soul as he served honorably in the Army for three years. Displaying dedication and loyalty throughout his military service, he exemplified the values of duty and sacrifice. Doug's commitment to his country will forever be remembered and cherished.

A man of immense compassion and empathy, Doug touched the lives of many with his genuine nature. His warm smile and infectious laughter created an inviting atmosphere wherever he went. Countless memories were made in his presence, and those fortunate enough to know him carry those memories as cherished treasures.

In honor of Doug's life, a Memorial Service will be held on July 17, 2023, at Alliance Veterans Cemetery in Alliance, Nebraska. The service will commence at 1:00 PM, with friends and family gathering to pay their respects. Located on Alliance Street, the cemetery serves as a fitting tribute to Doug's commitment to his country.

Doug leaves behind a legacy that will endure through the love and memories shared by his surviving family and friends. Madison Hinkley, his beloved daughter, finds comfort in knowing that her father's spirit will always guide her. He is also survived by his sister DeeAnna Chamberlain and loving parents Terry and Candy Hinkley. Their bond remains unbreakable even in the face of loss. He also leaves behind his ex-wife Maggie and her three children, as well as grandchildren. 

Though Douglas "Doug" Hinkley may no longer be physically present among us, his spirit thrives within the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His light continues to shine through cherished memories and stories shared with laughter-filled voices. May we remember him for his unwavering love, laughter, and remarkable zest for life. Rest in peace, dear Doug.
