Dylan Ranger

February 24, 1995 — January 4, 2021

Dylan James Ranger, 25 of Crawford NE went home to be with the Lord Dec 4th at home, surrounded by his family after a 16 month battle with brain cancer.  He was born February 24, 1995 to Kenneth Ranger and Elizabeth (Austin) Lauder in Seminole, FL.

Dylan moved to the mountains of NC in 1998 with his family where he started his schooling.  He then moved to Crawford, NE in 2004 and attended local schools in Belmont and Crawford.  He moved to Red Feather Lakes in 2017 where he worked various jobs, loving to learn new skills and trades.  He most recently went to work for Basic Merchandising Solutions with his brothers and sister-in-law where he was able to travel with family to work and explore new states with.   He was diagnosed with cancer while working in Bemidji, MN Sept. of 2019.  He then moved back to Crawford to be with family and pursue treatment options.

Dylan was adventurous and had many passions.  He loved the outdoors and had a deep love and respect for God and all life.  He enjoyed fishing, tying flies, hiking and exploring, camping, shooting, archery, knife-making, drawing, writing, playing the drums and guitar.  Most of which was done with his family who he was very close with, friends or his trusted side-kick Shadow.

Dylan was a gentle soul, an old soul who was a very deep thinker, even as a young boy and who put other's needs and feelings before his own.  He had a smile that would light up a room and was very witty, always ready with a comeback and always wanting to cheer up whomever needed it.  He was motivational, a great listener, patient, extremely forgiving, appreciative and gave great advice from his heart.  He bravely and courageously fought his disease, never feeling sorry for himself or complained right up to the end.

Left to mourn his absence are his mom Beth Lauder and step father Chad Lauder of Crawford, his dad Kenneth Ranger of Chadron, his brothers Jesse (April Sweeney) of Chadron, Josh (Lindsay Dunn Ranger) of Rapid City SD, his paternal grandmother Margaret Burdick of Jonathan Valley, NC, Uncle Wayne Ranger (Karen Ranger) of Texas, Aunt Debbie Ranger of FL, Aunt Christine Ranger of CT, Uncle Kenneth Austin of Torrington, CT and a host of cousins, other relatives, many friends and his cat Hannah.

Dylan was predeceased by his maternal grandparents Ronald and Virginia Austin, Paternal Grandfather Richard Ranger, Step Grandfather, Sidney Burdick, Great Grandmother Gaetanna Attenello and his beloved best friend, his dog Shadow.

There will be a Celebration of Life in the spring followed by his family taking his ashes and scattering them at his favorite place in the mountains of Colorado.  A memorial has been established.  Donations can be sent in care of Dylan to Chamberlain Chapel, 1700 Hwy 20, PO box 970, Chadron NE 69337.

"I'll see everyone some other time!  Y'all please carry on the good times and remember I love everyone!!" ~Dylan
