Eleanor Elaine (Burleigh) Strasburger was born on March 16, 1929, to Louis and Gertrude Burleigh in Gordon, Nebraska, and passed away peacefully at the Gordon Countryside Care Nursing Home on November 6, 2024, at the age of 95.
Growing up on the family farm southwest of Gordon, she shared many happy memories with her siblings. She attended grade school at Meadow Vale Country School, junior high at Clinton Junior High and graduated from Gordon High School with the class of 1946. She attended Chadron State College for a semester then worked various jobs in Gordon.
She attended Clinton Methodist Church and accepted Christ as her personal savior while attending a revival camp meeting service at the Tabernacle building in Gordon during her teen years.
She was united in marriage to Dean Strasburger on September 10, 1950, at the Gospel Chapel.They were married for close to 70 years, before Dean passed away in July of 2020. After their marriage they resided on the ranch south of Gordon and were blessed with four daughters.
Eleanor was a member of the Pleasant Point Community Church and attended faithfully until she moved to Countryside Care in December of 2023, where she received the best possible care and will be remembered for her beautiful smile.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two infant daughters, sisters Virginia Jacobson, Rowena Burleigh, Eileen Beutler, brothers Darwin and Jerry Burleigh, son-in-law Scott Hare and great grandchildren Eli Hunter, Christine Courville, and Bridger Krebs.
She will be missed by her daughters Vicki (Don) Courville, Dena (Gene Hunting) Hare, Karen (Paul) Simmons, Donna (Rod) Johnson, 18 grandchildren Josh (Jemima), Jennifer, Joni (Ryan), Janna (Sam), Hannah (Cody), Joy (Ryan), Jon (Jennifer), Shane (Karen), Stormy (Ben), Tanner (Jill), Justin (Brooke), Stephanie, Andrea (Thad), Mallory (Dave), Lacey (Steffan), Krystal (John), Kohl (Gracie) Johnson, Kaleigh (Ty), 48 great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Bobbie Burleigh, and numerous nieces, nephews, countryside care nursing staff, and friends.
