Ernest C. Hatch was born in Gordon, Nebraska on January 13th, 1943, on the Hatch Farm north of town to Ernest and Mildred (Hutton) Hatch. He passed away January 23rd, 2022, at the Chadron Hospital of natural causes. He was the seventh child of nine. Ernest grew up on the family farm and attended Gordon High School.
Ernie met the love of his life in Gordon after getting a parking ticket as Diane was employed by the City of Gordon as a meter maid. He tried talking her out of the ticket but instead married her.
They got married on April 10th, 1971, they were married for 50 years. They raised two children, Michael William, and Angela Nicole.
For most of his life he loved driving truck anything from hauling livestock to grain. He worked at Farmers Coop up until his retirement. For a few years after that he did day jobs for different farmers and ranchers.
Ernie was preceded in death by his mother, father, five sisters, two brothers and son, Michael. He is survived by his wife, Diane, daughter Angie, grandsons, Wyatt, and Lucas. Sister Beulah Shields and sister – in – laws, Jan Hatch, and Sally Hatch. Along with numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Church services will be held January 29th, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at the Gordon Church of God, Gordon Nebraska. Burial will be in the City of Gordon Cemetery. A memorial has been established and donations may be sent to Chamberlain-Pier Funeral Home, PO Box 366, Gordon, NE 69343.
