Esther Wright Obituary

This is the day that the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it. Praise the Lord. Esther Irene Weisbrook Wright was born on March 24, 1931, to Bernard (Barney) and Hilda Weisbrook in Fort Morgan, Colorado. She was the second of three children. She was baptized in Grover, Colorado and became God’s child. That love of God continued to be her pillar of faith for her all the rest of her life. She joined her Savior in Heaven on August 28, 2025, early in the morning. Her funeral will be on September 6, 2025, at 10 AM, and following her ashes will be spread at the McCoy Ranch per her wishes.

She enjoyed her childhood while living in Colorado where her father worked on several farms. She and her siblings, Harold and Leora, walked up to 5 miles to attend school at one point. She was confirmed in the Grover Lutheran Church. They moved to Nebraska where she graduated from the eighth grade. After eighth grade graduation, Esther worked for a family caring for two little girls. Then she met Carl Alfred Wright, and they were married on May 2, 1948, in the same church where she was confirmed. They settled down near Bushnell where Carl worked for various farmers. Esther stayed at home and helped on the ranches. In 1951, they began a family, and were blessed with three of their four children, Helen Louise, Raymond Leslie, and Robert Leonard.

They moved to the Crawford Nebraska area where Esther became a CNA and Carl worked as Maintenance for the hospital. In 1956, they were blessed with their last child, Kathy JoAnn. Esther continued to work at the hospital while her children were growing up. In 1963, she became a single mother of four. Nonetheless, God was with her, guiding and keeping her and her children in His care. She always trusted that God would keep and care for her children no matter where they were or what they were doing. Esther worked various other jobs in clinics for doctors and at Warren’s Pharmacy while her children were finishing high school. She moved in with her elderly mother to care for her at 105 West Oak where she continued to live until her death.

She started each Sunday by welcoming people to Church and Bible study. She was one of the pillars of the church when it came to sharing her faith with others. She cherished having Sunday Dinner at her home with all her family and friends attending church and finishing the afternoon with many card games and snacking on freshly popped popcorn. She always had fresh baked chocolate chip cookies in her cookie jar for the kids and grandkids. She baked home made bread each week. She always had popsicles in her freezer for anyone who asked. Each new grandchild received a hand sewn baby quilt and when they graduated from high school, they received a queen-sized hand sewn quilt. She constantly reminded everyone of her love for them as well as God’s love for them through sending letters to them each week with a sermon in them.

She is survived by her sisters, Leora Roberts and Elaine Weisbrook, and her children, Helen (Robert) Arnold, Cheryl Wright, Bob (Alta) Wright, Steve (Sharrie) Kuhnel, and Kathy (Roger) McCoy; her grandchildren: Kelley (Mike) Long, Michele Niles, Jason Arnold, Jared “Bubba” Arnold, Danea (Corey) Crowder, Scott (Alicia) Wright, Melissa (Roy) Bierman, Toby (Tara) Wright, Mick (RaNae) Wright, Robyn (Michael) Perez, Shawney (Curtis) Clark, Libby (Benji) Wright, Nicholas Kuhnel, Cassie (Jese) McAulay, Brittany Kuhnel, Alexis (Wade) Manning, Jenni Swanson, Kerri (Jeff) Schneider, Colby (Sarah) McCoy, LaRee (Matt) Faber, Samantha (Nate) Jech. She always wanted a dozen grandchildren and was blessed with many more as well as 43 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Raymond Wright, her parents, Barney and Hilda Weisbrook, and her brothers, Harold Weisbrook and Bill Roberts.
