Gerald C. Letcher age 92 passed away peacefully Tuesday June 4, with his children Jared and Gwen by his side. He was born October 19, 1931 South of Hay Springs by the Niobrara River to Charles and Elsie ( Peters) Letcher. He married Myrgle White on September 10, 1958 Sharing three children: Vincent Brian, Gwen Elene and Jared Leander.
Gerald’s passion was ranching and putting up hay. He took pride in his angus cattle and finishing butcher beef for family and friends. He also shared his time with the community serving on serval boards: Mirage Flats District 30 school, Mirage Flats irrigation district, Alliance Co-op, Stockmen’s National Bank (Security First) and the American Soil Conservation Services.
Gerald enjoyed hunting in his free-time and had many tall-tales to share about his hunting buddies and their adventures. He instilled his hunting values with area youth serving as Nebraska Hunters Safety Instructor for many years.
He is survived by son Jared and Wife Pam, Children Jessica and Ryan. Daughter Gwen Lickteig and husband Chris, Children Courtney and Arron. Sister Joann Foreman, Charlyn Pyle, Loreen Nadobny and several nieces and nephews. Welcoming him home into Heaven are his parents Charlie and Elsie, son Vincent, sister Marilyn Lawrence and Aldean Hunter and brother Alvern Letcher.
Visitation Monday June 10 @ 7:00 PM at Chamberlain Chapel in Chadron. Funeral Service will be Tuesday June 11th @ 10:00 AM St Columbkilles in Hays Springs with burial to follow at Sacred Heart on the Mirage Flats. Special thanks to the Chadron Hospice for all their kind help. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Chadron Community Hospital Hospice Program or the Hay Springs Volunteer Fire Department.
