Jess Allen Kohl was born June 12, 1964 to Vernon and Mary Kohl in Gordon Nebraska. Jess graduated from Hyannis High school in 1982. He was active in wrestling, football, and rodeo. Jess was a member of the 1981 Hyannis Longhorns state wrestling team and as a senior Jess qualified for the high school national finals rodeo in steer wrestling. After high school he attended Eastern Wyoming College on a rodeo scholarship. Jess was a talented artist and enjoyed many hobbies including wood working, hunting, fishing, and ranching. Jess was preceded in death by his mother, father and grandparents. He is survived by his sister Sherrie of Hot Springs, SD and brothers Mike (Kathy) of Chadron, NE, Ken (BranDee) of Surprise, NE, Todd (Val), of Birch Tree, MO, Thad (Jody) of Bingham, NE and many nieces and nephews.
Even though Jess had many challenges in life he always faced them with courage and the best attitude. He was an inspiration to all who knew him and he will be dearly missed. As Jess would say “see ya later tater chip”.

Services will be held Saturday, May 11th at 11am at Chamberlain Funeral Home in Gordon, Nebraska. A luncheon will follow at the American Legion Club in Gordon. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
