John Schultz Jr passed away on November 21, 2024 at Pioneer Manor in Hay Springs. He was born March 29, 1933 in York Nebraska, the son of John Schultz Sr and Dollie (Marsden) Schultz.
John graduated from Gresham High School, the class of 1950. Following graduation, he worked at the Hasting Navel Ammunition Depot and began farming for his father in Gresham, which he continued until 1966. He also worked at the Sunflower Beef and Kroy Industries, both located in York Nebraska.
In 1956 he married Dorothy Martin of Gordon Nebraska. Dorothy was a high school home economics teacher in Gresham.
While living in Gresham, John was a member of the Gresham United Presbyterian Church, the Gresham Volunteer Fire Department and the York Masonic Lodge.
John and Dorothy moved to Chadron, Nebraska in 1999. While living in Chadron, John was a member of the First Congregational Church and the Chadron Masonic Lodge and actively supported the Senior Center in Chadron. He worked part tome at SWANN and the Dawes County Fairgrounds. He was honored by the city of Chadron with John Schultz Day on his 80th birthday.
In his retirement years, he built many wooden models of cars, trucks, tractors, etc. Which he gave away to many of his friends, family and coworkers around the Chadron area.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Dorthy, a brother James Schultz, and a sister Janet (Schultz) Kee. Other family members predeceased include Troy and Phyllis Green, Marvin Maul and Jimmy Kee. He is survived by three children, daughter Trudy Winter of Rushville NE, daughter Tami Mak of Hemingford NE, son Terry of Jasper TN, and four grandchildren Talon Mak, Chance Mak, Nathan Schultz and Emily (Schultz) Brockman. Two other survivors include Nancy Maul and Lyle Marsden.
