Joyce Tiensvold

Joyce Tiensvold was born on November 7, 1934 in Rushville, Nebraska, to Ed & Fern Bolek, where they lived on the farm around 2 miles east of Rushville. Joyce passed away on October 27, 2020 in Reno, Nevada.

She completed her schooling in Rushville and married her high school sweetheart LeRoy Tiensvold in 1952 and they had two sons from their marriage, Alan & Gary.

They moved to Reno Nevada in the early 1960’s. While in Reno, Joyce was a loving mother & housewife and worked outside of the home at Central Credit Rating Bureau & also worked at several local banks over the years.  Upon LeRoy’s retirement they moved back to Rushville in 1993 and purchased the River Ranch from Ed Kutchera, where they made their home and raised cattle & buffalo. Gary recalled that mom liked to chase the buffalo and cattle when they got out or needed herding.  When LeRoy passed away on December 6, 1999, Joyce continued to run the ranch with the help of Gary, Alan and family, until July 2011. Joyce loved the ranch life & enjoyed watching the cattle, buffalo & abundant wildlife!!

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be missed more than we can express.

She is survived by her sister Joan Colwell of Rushville, her brother Edward Bolek of Rushville, her sister in law Sheryl Dean of Murrieta, CA, sons Alan & his wife Carol of Rushville, Gary of Reno Nevada. Grandson Wade & his wife Katrina of Park City MT, grandson Jason & his wife Dawnette of Billings MT, Jason & Dawnette’s daughters, Arielle of Milliken CO, & Devin currently in college in Lincoln NE.
