JOYCE WALLACE OBITUARY

Joyce A. Wallace, 76, died unexpectedly from cancer July 9,2023 at Chadron Community Hospital. She was born January 25, 1947 in Merna Nebraska to Charles F. Riggs and Marcia L. Haught Riggs.

Joyce graduated from Alliance High School in 1964. After graduation she moved to North Platte and started beauty school. She met and married Gordon L. Zeigler in 1965. They later divorced. After her divorce she moved back to Alliance where she made a living as a bartender. In 1981 she decided she needed a change and enrolled in the LPN program at Box Butte General Hospital graduating in 1982. She started her nursing career at St. Joseph Gerontology Center in Alliance. In 1987 she moved to Crawford and continued her LPN career at Ponderosa Villa and Crestview Care Center in Chadron. She married Jerald C. Wallace in 1990. A few years later she retired and spent her time with grandchildren and enjoying the many crafts she loved to do. Her favorite was painting.

She was proceeded in death by her parents and her husband Jerald. She is survived by her sister Jo Ann Nesiba of North Platte, brothers Robert Riggs of Omaha and Charles Riggs of Tallahassee Florida. Sons Gregory (Bonnie Wynn) Zeigler of Crawford, Ryan Zeigler of Livingston Texas, daughter Gina (Michael) McCracken of Alliance, 14 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.

Services will be Wednesday, August 2, 2023 10:00 am at Chamberlain Chapel in Crawford. Internment at Crawford Cemetery and reception to follow at the Frontier Restaurant in Crawford.
