Judy Edith (Heckman) Cook was reunited with her husband and called to be with the Lord in Heaven to celebrate Fathers’ Day together; June 18, 2023. She passed peacefully surrounded by family and friends at Ponderosa Villa in Crawford, Nebraska. 
 
 
Judy Ide was born on January 16, 1942 to her father Clyde and mother Ruth. Her brother Gary was born when Judy was 1 year old. Judy and her brother were adopted and raised as their own by Irene and Ben Heckman.
 
 
Judy graduated from Crawford High School in 1960. 
 
 
Judy was married to James “Jim” Cook on August 27, 1961. A year later they welcomed a daughter, Connie Jeanne on June 17, 1962, and a son Corey James on June 10, 1963. 
 
 
Judy loved to write. She wrote a poem that was published in a paper. She always wrote her Christmas letter to The Night Before Christmas form.
 
 
Judy was a firm believer in serving her Lord and Saviour, and was an active member of the United Church of Christ. Later in life she pursued her passion of leading people to Jesus, and served as pastor at United Church of Christ in Purdum and Brewster Nebraska. She loved to share the word of God with her congregation and her family.
 
 
Judy was preceded in death by her adoptive mother and father, brother and husband. 
 
 
Judy is survived by her beloved children; daughter Connie and (husband) Ron Crowley of Fritch Texas, and son Corey Cook of Borger Texas. Grandchildren Nicole (Crowley) and (husband) Johnathan Bentley of Hallsville, Missouri, Eric and (wife) Charity Cook of Borger, Texas and four great-grandchildren.
