Kenneth L. Garner

Kenneth Garner was born on May 6, 1947 in Somerset, NE to the late Richard and Elizabeth Garner.

Ken joined the Marine Corps in July of 1966 until his retirement from the military in September of 1989. On May 9, 1969 he married the love of his life Deborah M. Garner. They decided to move to Chadron, NE in 2009 where they had the Blue Moon Stables; after retiring from their daily jobs and renamed it “LZ1”, this started their involvement in the community.

Kenneth is survived by his daughters’ -Sheri (Randy) Russell of Ohio, Mona Hill of Maryland; Tamorah (Timothy) Brauer of Texas and son Kenneth Joe (Chris) Garner of Maryland. 11 grandchildren, 18 Grandchildren, and 4 foster grandchildren- Kayden, Mylee, Harlan, and Case Kristad. Brother’s- Gary (Phylis) Garner of Gothenburg, NE, Glenn (Stacy) Garner of Mullen, NE; Allen (Jeanie) Garner of Kearny, NE, Donald Garner of Iowa, and sister Mary Ann (Nick) Rudloff of Crawford, NE. Brother-in-law Joe Brown of LaVista, NE; Sister-in-law Shirley Garner of Lincoln, NE.

He is preceded in death by his wife Deborah Garner, (Parent-in-laws) Luther and Mrytle Thomas and his siblings; Douglas Garner, Joyce Mizner and Ruth Brown.

 Visitation Services will be from 10:00-11:00 am before services start.

 Funeral Services held at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Chadron, NE on Tuesday August 29th, 2023, at 11:00 am.

 Interment with full Military Honors will be held at the Ft. McPherson Cemetery in Maxwell, NE on Wednesday August 30th, 2023, at 2:00 pm CST.

A memorial has been established for the VFW or Dawes County Veterans’ Honor Guard or Our Savior Lutheran Church. Donations may be sent in care of Chamberlain Chapel, P.O. Box 970, Chadron, NE 69337.
