Laurene Semans obituary

Laurene Ann Kutschara was born January 24, 1934 at Hay Springs, Nebraska to Gilbert and Agnes Kutschara.  Laurene joined an older sister, Irene.  She passed away at Crest View Care Center in Chadron, Nebraska January 29, 2020.

Laurene attended school in Hay Springs, Nebraska, graduating in 1953.  Following her graduation, she worked in cafes and nursing homes, as a dishwasher and assisting with the cooking and serving of many meals.

On June 21, 1961 she married Dwight Semans.  They spent their time together working on farms and ranches until Dwight became ill and lost his fight with cancer. Laurene and her father moved to Rushville where she worked at the hospital in the kitchen and then at the Food Bowl.  She was an accomplished salad maker and enjoyed this job for several years.  She ended her working years by helping at the NebraskaLand Motel when the owners needed to be away by being their on-call person.

Laurene was a member of the Victory Hill Assembly of God Church at Clinton, Nebraska.

She is survived by cousins, Edward and Glenna Vodicka, David and Pat Kadlecek, Darlene Jacobs, Marilyn Kutschara, Philip and Margaret Kadlecek, Kathie Thiel, Dickie Lou Pierson, Dorothy Wesnitzer and Imogene Thies, special friends, Wayne and Rena Krotz, Dennis, Greg and Joe and John and Julie Krotz.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 31, 2020, at 2:00 at the Victory Hill Assembly of God Church at Clinton, Nebraska.  Burial will be in the Gordon Cemetery.  A memorial has been established for Crest View Care Center in Chadron and donations may be sent to Chamberlain-Pier Funeral Home, PO Box 366, Gordon, Nebraska.
