Lois Vivier Swanson
Lois (Hanneman) Swanson was born in Porcupine, South Dakota on June 14, 1935, and passed away from this life on October 21, 2021, at her home in Gordon, Nebraska.
Lois grew up in Batesland, South Dakota and attended school there through 8th grade. She then moved to Gordon where she graduated high school.
During her freshman year in high school, she met her future husband, Gordon Swanson. She was very active in various organizations during this time and was elected Homecoming Queen her senior year. She then attended the University of Denver.
When Gordon returned from the Navy, they were married on April 15, 1954. To this union six children were born: Rick, LeeAnn, Joni, Lisa, Mike, and Scott. She had 24 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren, which she was so very proud of. She enjoyed her family most of all, and enjoyed going to their sporting events, school activities and on camping trips.
Besides raising her children, Lois held various jobs. Her favorite profession was working in the banking industry where she worked for many years.
She enjoyed entertaining, cooking, playing cards, and spoiling her beloved dog Foxie.
Funeral services will be held Friday October 29, 2021, 2:00 PM at St. Leo’s Catholic Church with Father Daniel Gilbert officiating, with burial to follow in the Gordon Cemetery. A Vigil service will be held Thursday, October 28, 2021, 6:00 PM at St. Leo’s Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Leo’s Catholic Church, or the Willow Tree Restoration and donations may be sent in care of Chamberlain-Pier Funeral Home, PO Box 366, Gordon, NE 69343.
