Lorraine Luscher

Lorraine Josephine Luscher passed away on August 21, 2022.  She was born September 21, 1948 to Eleanor {Thompson} and Fred A. Luscher in Elgin, IL.  Her Mother passed away when she was seven years old.  Fred remarried in 1956 to Rita Roberts.  They resided in Waterman, Ill. where Lorraine grew up.  Graduating from Waterman High School in 1967.  After high school Lorraine married John Lane and moved to Colorado Springs where John was in the army.  To this union 2 sons were born Darrell & David. After the army John and Lorraine lived in Rockford, Ill for a short time, then moved to Johns’ family farm outside Poplar Bluff, MO. While there she developed a southern drawl.  We sisters tried correcting her speech for 20 plus years.  She never did give up the word sody for soda pop.  While still in Mo she married Roy Sparks. Son Aaron was born to this union.  1973 she moved to NE to be with family.  She married Sonny Pourier.  To this union 2 more children were born Danine & Shawn.  Lorraine spent a few years being a ranch wife & mother.  She loved to bake.  Her favorite was soft sugar cookies and there was always an ice cream bucket full in the freezer.  Her contribution for all the holiday meals was Frog Eye Salad, 7 Layer Salad and her special deviled eggs. Which everyone loved.

When living in Gordon she worked at GMH.  Usually the night shift.  Quite a few of those years she was an OB tech & helped deliver a lot of babies.  In 2000 she moved to Las Vegas. After a few odd jobs she was hired as a security guard at Treasure Island and worked there until she retired.  This was her lifetime favorite job.  She met many stars which thrilled her.  Lorraine loved to crochet and was very good at it and fast. She enjoyed gardening when she could and reading true crime novels. She loved being with her grandkids and her dog and faithful companion Joey.

She was preceded in death by her son Shawn Thomas Pourier, her parents Fred A., Rita and Eleanor Luscher and brother Fred B. Luscher.

Survived by sons Darrell Lane, Poplar Bluff, MO, David (Michelle) Lane, Las Vegas, NV, Aaron Scott, Batesville, AR, daughter Danine (Rob) Brewer, Abilene TX, sisters Rena DeWeese, Lana Lusher, Cosette (Jim) Marshall all of Gordon, April Smith & Lisa Luscher of Chadron. 12 Grandchildren and 6 Great Grandchildren.
