Mae Rose Jones

Mae Rose Jones, 93 was born on May 20, 1930 to William and Helen (McMillan) Wabs. She was called home to be with the Lord on July 29, 2023 surrounded by her family at the Chadron Community Hospital.

Mae grew up in rural Holt County near Spencer, NE. She moved to Chadron with her first husband George True in her early twenties. After her first husband passed, she met and married LeRoy Jones and to this union two daughters were born Sherrie and Sherl.

Mae worked for Byerly’s cabins and did various house cleaning jobs throughout her lifetime. She loved spending time with her family, laughing and playing ball. Mae always greeted you with a smile on her face. She was a loving, caring person, a devoted wife, mother and friend. To know her was to love her.

Mae enjoyed spending time tending to her flowers. She loved her cats and Buddy her daughters’ dog, but most of all she loved to vacuum. A day didn’t go by that she wasn’t seen with a vacuum in her hand.

Mae is survived by her daughters Sherrie and Sherl (Milan) Bosch and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mae was preceded in death by her parents William and Helen Wabs, her husband LeRoy Jones, her brothers Carl, Marvin, Edwin, Clyde, and Rudy Wabs and a sister Adalene Hill.
