Musestta Mae Norman, age 83, of Boulder City, Nevada, passed away on January 12, 2025. She was born on March 29, 1941, in Alliance, Nebraska, to Harold and Vivian (Curry) Ball.
Musetta grew up on the Mirage Flats of rural northwest Nebraska on a farm nine miles south of Hay Springs, Nebraska. She graduated from Hay Springs High School in May of 1959. In 1961, she taught first grade in Mountain Home, Idaho, for one year. Musetta married Arnold Wayne Norman on September 2, 1962, in Hay Springs. After teaching first grade in Kimball, Nebraska, for one school year, Wayne and Musetta moved to Great Falls, Montana, in 1963 to continue their teaching careers. Spending summers back in Chadron, Nebraska, between school years, Musetta earned her bachelor of science degree in education from Chadron State College in August 1967. Musetta was a grade school teacher for the Great Falls public school system and taught first grade at Sacajawea Elementary School for five years. Wayne and Musetta adopted a one month old son, Tarl, in October 1969, after which Musetta became a full time housewife and mother. She volunteered at the local YMCA teaching fitness classes for two years. Upon adopting daughter, Kenda, in July of 1975, Musetta gave up all volunteer work to become a full time housewife and mother once again. She resumed her teaching career as a substitute teacher once both kids were in school. During Montana summers Musetta enjoyed camping, fishing, and woodcutting with the family. The school year found her actively involved with the many sports and activities her children were engaged in. Upon Wayne’s retirement from teaching in 1994, they moved to Henderson, Nevada, where Musetta continued to substitute teach for the Clark County School District. Musetta enjoyed exploring the local
southern Nevada desert with canine companions, Callie and Griz. She was an avid walker and could be regularly found walking the dogs in the neighborhood and adjacent desert. She always maintained a close relationship with the local Schwann’s salesman in Montana and in Nevada and was always quick to spot a good deal. She was known as a good neighbor wherever she lived. She enjoyed the lifestyle that the local area had to offer with the wide variety of casinos and buffets. Musetta became an avid NASCAR fan, always rooting for whoever was driving the Fords. Musetta is survived by son Tarl (Carrie) Norman; daughter Kenda (Dan) Keenan and two grandsons Kendan and Vance Keenan. She is preceded in death by husband Wayne Norman, brother Delbert Ball, and parents, Vivian and Harold Ball.
Cremation was provided by La Paloma Funeral Services in Henderson, Nevada. A graveside service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Chadron, Nebraska, for final interment August 2nd, 2025 at 10:30am.
