Neva Jean Bartlett was born May 28, 1928 in Dannebrog, NE, to Alice and George Hendricksen. She spent her high school years in Dannebrog and Hay Springs, NE, graduating from Dannebrog in 1946. She met her husband, Morton Bartlett while in Hay Springs and they were married in 1948. She worked in Chadron at the Kenwood grocery store and sold tickets at the Old Star Lite Drive-In. She started working at the Chadron Sale Barn for the Ormesher Brothers, and then for Ralph and Don Strotheide. She worked at the Sale Barn for over 40 years.
Neva was a member of the BPO Does, American Legion Auxiliary, Rebekahs, Eastern Star, and the First Baptist Church. She also enjoyed helping at the Dawes County Museum and the Chadron Senior Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents Alice and George Hendricksen, step-mother Millie Hendricksen, husband Morton Bartlett, infant son Gene, daughter Vickie Anderson, sisters Kathryn (Gerald) Stinehagen, Joan (Wilber) Willmert and brother Bill (Hana) Hendricksen.
Neva is survived by her sons Von (Sharon) Bartlett, and Vince(Lucy) Bartlett, all of Chadron, NE. She is also survived by grandchildren Francesca (Casey) Roberts, Frank (Chris) Bartlett, Morton Bartlett, Vanessa (Robby) Rembrandt, Kenji Bartlett, Grey (Jeremy) Deakin, and her great-grandchildren Parker and Peyton Bartlett, Ryder and Hunter Rembrandt, Hadley Roberts, Ayla and Brody Deakin.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Chadron Senior Center.
