Norma "Sue" Serres

May 14, 1934 — June 8, 2026

Harrison

Norma (Sue) was born May 14, 1934 to Paul and Eva Geike. She was the youngest of three children. Her sister was Rachel Ann (13 years older) and her brother was Robert Clayton (11 years older). Sue grew up on the Dunn Ranch where her passion was the animals around her. She always had names for the sheep, bunnies, kitties, and chickens. Her favorite childhood memory was of her playing in a home-made tent with her cat, while her dad rested in the hammock outside and her mom cooked her legendary fried chicken.

At age 18, Sue graduated from Sioux County High School with her teaching certificate which led her to finding the love of her life, Harry (Bud) Serres Jr. Sue’s first teaching job required her to find lodging at Louise Serres home where Bud and her became great friends. They were married in the Montrose Church and lived many beautiful years on the Serres ranch.

Sue is survived by her wonderful children Sara, Mark, and Lora. Her legacy is great through the unions of her children: Sara to Bill Glaser (Children: Michelle (Ryan), Tracy (Jeff), and Preston (Kathy), Mark to Barb Nunn, and Lora to Gordon Mathis (children: Vaughn, Sara, Jason (Conner). She also had six great grandchildren who she dearly loved (Jaedyn, Kadence, Zayne, Micah, Kinsley, and Tyler).

Norma Sue Geike Serres may have lived life at 4 foot 11 ½ inches, but her devotion and love for her family and friends made her mighty. There was never a day where she did not love deeply and laugh often. She lived with a smile be it through a game of cards, trying to hit the jackpot at the casino, or through a gentle hug amidst a glass of ice tea and chocolate chip cookies. Norma Sue made even the simplest days special and fun. Her impact is forever stamped on the hearts of those who loved her and we thank the Lord for the blessing of her amazing life.
