Ross Brewer Obituary Ross Brewer, 97, of Gordon, Nebraska, passed away on Wednesday, April 8, 2026. Ross was born on September 7, 1928, to Clayton and Myrtle (Drake) Brewer. He lived a long and meaningful life, grounded in the values of hard work, connection, and a deep appreciation for the simple things. Ross entered Army in July 1950 just days after the start of the Korean war. He was a graduate of the Army Airborne and Ranger schools. He served in Korea with the Ranger company of the 2nd infantry division. He was wounded twice while serving in Korea and then was reassigned to the 82nd Airborne Division. While assigned to the 82 Airborne Division he participated in Operation Upshot Knothole. Operation Upshot Knothole was a series of eleven nuclear test conducted in 1953 at the Nevada test sight. Ross was discharged in 1954. He was always proud of his family who served and always had a soldiers spirit in life. Ross had a true passion for his family and friends, cherishing the time he spent with those he loved. He found great joy in horses, the mountains, and the cowboy way of life, which reflected his independent spirit and love of the outdoors. Whether sharing stories, working with horses, or simply enjoying a quiet moment with a cup of coffee, Ross embraced life with warmth and authenticity. He will be remembered for his steady presence, kind heart, and the lasting impact he made on those who knew him.
