Ruth Elaine Bachmann was born November 21, 1930, to Charles and Elma Reynick 17 miles northwest of Philip, SD on the farm where her grandparents homesteaded in 1906. She grew up there with her three younger siblings and attended the little country school located across the road and Philip High School graduating in 1948. During her senior year she met Donald (Sodie) Bachmann from Crawford, NE while he was there working with a Bell Telephone crew. He was the love of her life and in August of 1949 they were married in the Lutheran Church in Philip. After living for short periods of time in Lake Andes, SD, Alliance, and Chadron, they moved to Crawford in 1950 where they remained and became parents to three children, Lance, Carol, and Kathy. She loved her entire family and spending time with them was the light of her life.
She loved God and was a faithful member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir for 50 years.
She enjoyed playing bridge and belonged to several bridge clubs over the years. She also enjoyed dancing and was a member of the Dancing Grannies line dance group in later years. She crocheted many beautiful doilies before the loss of her vision.
Ruth passed away peacefully on May 14, 2024, at the age of 93 at Ponderosa Villa Nursing Home in Crawford, NE with loving family by her side.
