Sandy Farmer

July 14, 1946 — December 3, 2014

Sandra Lorena Farmer left us peacefully on December 3, 2014. She was born on July 14, 1946 in Butler, Pennsylvania to Thomas Clarence Stevenson and Ethel Kathryn (Schuller) Stevenson. Sandy graduated from high school in 1964 and then attended Butler Business School. She married Robert Samuel Farmer on December 18, 1965. From this marriage two daughters were born: Lisa Lorena DeBoer and Kristie Suzanne Peterson. Sandy worked for the Butler Sewer Plant and then started making fishing bait for Angler Products. She then loaded her two daughters up and moved from Butler, PA to Porcupine, South Dakota where she managed Angler Products. During this time she met Lester Reese and acquired an extended family of children: Jennie Reese, Sherry Fochtman, Scott Reese and Billy Reese. In 1981 the factory closed and she then moved herself and daughters to Gordon. Sandy started working for Gordon Tire and then went to work for the City of Gordon as Deputy City Clerk on August 26, 1985. Sandy had worked with Fred Hlava at Gordon Tire and continued working side-by-side with Fred whom she considered a very good, close friend. She retired on May 10, 2013. Sandy was also an active member of the Gordon American Legion Auxiliary since 1988 and also Secretary/Treasurer for the Sheridan County American Legion and Auxiliary. Sandy had always said that she had a family "By Blood" and one "By Love". She loved everyone equally and showed it every chance she got. Sandy was predeceased in death by her parents, a nephew, a son by love and several others that were very near and dear to her. Sandy is survived by blood: her daughter; Lisa & Dwight DeBoer of Albion, NE, daughter; Kristie & Roy Peterson of Gordon, brother: Tom & Cyndie Stevenson of Butler, PA, brother: George "Pee Wee" & Patty Stevenson of Butler, PA, granddaughter: Kathryn "Katie Bug" & Nick Saari of Chadron, NE, Johnathon "Baby J" Hernandez of Gordon, NE and great grandson Hunter Saari. By love: James Young, former son-in-law of Gordon, Lester Reese of Gordon, Jennie Reese of Gordon, Sherry Fochtman of Gordon, Bill & Deb Reese of Alliance, NE, 17 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Per Sandy's request her honorary pallbearers are: Toni Siders, Stevie Lissolo, Marilyn Sager, Dean Jamison, 'Little' Jodi McNare and every other family and friend she ever touched. Memorial services will be held December 10, 2014, at 2:00 PM at the Gordon City Auditorium. A memorial has been established for the Gordon American Legion Auxiliary and donations may be sent in care of Chamberlain-Pier Funeral Home, PO Box 366 Gordon, NE 69343. Sandy was always a very positive person. She always saw the best in everyone; brought sunshine in all the lives she touched and never met a stranger. As Sandy would say: "WHOO HOO WHAT A RIDE!"
