Steve Serres

Steven Lyle Serres, 73, of Chadron, Nebraska, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family, on September 30, 2026.

Steven was born on March 19, 1953, in Crawford, Nebraska, to Richard Lyle Serres and Beverly (Coleman) Serres. He then lived in Crawford for a few years before moving to Chadron, a community he proudly called home. On June 10, 1972, Steven married the love of his life, Billie Jo Corbin. Together, they built a family and were blessed with three children: Terry, John and Stephanie. Throughout his lifetime, Steven held many different jobs and was never afraid of hard work. His career included carpentry, working for the City of Chadron Parks Department, a filling station, the cable company, Walmart and later serving as a TSA agent. He was also a proud member of the Chadron Volunteer Fire Department, serving his community and helping others whenever he could. After many years of working, Steven enjoyed 10 years of well-deserved retirement. Steven will be remembered by his family and friends for the life he lived, the people he cared for, and the many memories he created throughout his years in Chadron. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Billie Serres; his children, Terry (JoDee) Serres, John Serres, and Stephanie (John) Casey; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as many other relatives and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Beverly Serres, and his sister, Caron. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on October 5, 2026, at Chamberlain Chapel in Chadron, Nebraska. Steven will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will live on through the many lives he touched and the family he leaves behind.
