Vern Owen

Vern was born the third of six kids to Wesley Preston and Grace Almeida Waters Owen on June 5, 1946. He decided he was done with school around the 8th grade, his Dad said fine but you’re getting a job so he started working for Paul Huffman. 

For the next 64 years Vern worked doing what he loved being horseback, muleback or driving a team with the a set of lines in his hands. He was a top notch hand with horses and mules. He always made sure to have a good dog at his side, following him around. 

Vern married Wanda Jean Eichenberger in 1972 and they made a living working on ranches and feed yards in Texas, Colorado and Nebraska. His kids are Jerry Owen, Tawnie(Tom Eichenberger), LaWanda Rundback and Cassie Owen. Grandkids are Austin Keiser(Sarah), Tucker Keiser, Tristen Owen, Josey Marshall(Abe), Chase Rundback, Madison Garnette(Hijinio), Cari Yonker, Breanna Yonker and 10 great grandkids Emma, Allie, Beau, Preston, Winston, Wiley, Jonathan, Paisleigh, River, Azalea. Every one of them Vern’s pride and joy.

 He is survived by Wanda (his girl), his kids, grand children and great grandchildren. His brother Bob, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Honorary pallbearers are everyone that he considered a friend.
