Gregory Bart Edwards

December 8, 1960 – January 13, 2020

Gregory Bart Edwards, 59, died at home on Monday with many loved ones by his side. His death followed a year-long battle with cancer.

Bart was born in Atkinson, Nebraska to Dennis (Buck) and Shirley Edwards. He attended school in Milford, Iowa, Norfolk, Nebraska, and Chadron, Nebraska where he graduated and spent most of his life. Bart worked in construction and concrete finishing, but always made time to stop for coffee with his parents or help a friend with an urgent job.

Bart loved hunting and fishing, and anticipated the yearly opening of dove season with great excitement. He and Kelly, along with their good friends, made many trips to Florida to fish for grouper and wahoo and travel to Alaska for deep-sea fishing, family time, and hours of battling halibut and salmon. He was a wonderful cook who found joy in preparing the wild game and fish for family and friends.

Bart is survived by his partner of 33 years Kelly Hepper, mother Shirley, sister-in-law Shirley, sister Robyn (Brad), and brother Dana(Kristi), as well as 9 nieces and nephews and many good friends. HE was preceded in death and welcomed home by his grandparents, father Buck Edwards, and brother Blake Edwards.

Bart will be remembered for his willingness to lend a helping hand, never backing down from a tough job, and love for a good conversation. He will live on always in the wonderful memories of his family and friends, countless projects to which he let his expert touch and the Springer spaniels that were always by his side. Bart was truly “one of the good guys.” We will miss him.
