Jim Shepardson

March 4, 1960 — May 3, 2021

Martin

James Bruce Shepardson was born March 4, 1960 to Glenn and Phyllis Shepardson in Gordon, Nebraska. Jim died May 3, 2021, at the Bennett County Hospital surrounded by his family after a 10-year battle with COPD.

He was raised out at Porcupine, SD on the Shepardson Ranch and sincerely enjoyed the farm/ranch life. He began driving about the time he learned to walk and not being a real big guy the memories of seeing him looking through the steering wheel on the truck sticks in the mind.

Jim attended grade school in Porcupine, Rockyford and Batesland, then graduated from Bennett County High School in 1978. He attended college at Chadron State College for a year then moved back to Martin to help his parents and brother Don run the Coast-to-Coast Store.

Jim married Jeannie Pritchett and they were blessed with two daughters Brittany and Jessica. In 1994 they moved to Fremont, Nebraska so that Jim could manage a building products store. He was approached while in Nebraska to train with Walmart. He moved to Colorado to pursue a career with Walmart and worked there for many years. In 2010 he transferred to Spearfish so that he could be closer to family. 2011 brought a stroke Jim’s way and after recovering from that he moved back to Martin. He sincerely enjoyed his little home in the country and the flowers and tomato plants were always his pride.

Jim is survived by his daughters Brittany and Jessica, mother Phyllis of Martin, brother Kenny (Adele) of Rapid City, brother Don (Lisa) of Brookings, SD, sister Judy (Matt) of Martin and numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his father and his favorite Uncle Lloyd who had a very special place in Jim’s heart.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday May 8, 2021, at Our Redeemers Lutheran Church with Pastor Joshua Hillman officiating and burial will be held in the Martin Community Cemetery.
