Leonard James Anderson was born on March 27, 1929 Lakeside, NE to James and Ada (Orr) Anderson.  He passed away peacefully on September 5, 2020 in Gordon.
Leonard grew up and attended school near Lakeside.


He was united in marriage to Jacklyn Schmidt on June 6, 1948 and engaged in farming on his in-laws farm north of Hay Springs for over 20 years where he and Jackie raised their 3 children. Upon Jackie’s death, he also worked for Wayne Davis.


On December 29, 1976, he married Donna Paul.


Leonard had lived his entire life in Sheridan County until the fall of 1978 when they began wintering in Apache Junction, AZ.  He did mechanic work on travel trailers for a shop in Mesa, AZ and returned to Gordon every summer to farm for Donna’s nephew, Randy Schmidt.


He enjoyed working with old cars and built a 1928 Model A Coupe and a 1929 Model A Ford Pickup from the ground up.


Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jacklyn, brother Donald, and second wife, Donna, step son-in-law Don Gibson and step grandson Derek Gibson.
He leaves to mourn he and Jackie’s 3 children, Mariann (Rodney) Furman of Rushville, Leonard Jr. “Butch” Anderson of rural Hay Springs, Myrna (Greg) Gibson of Cave Creek, AZ, his brother Warren (June) Anderson of Quincey, IL, sister-in-law Joann Anderson of Rushville, his step daughters Tyke Secrest of Rapid City, Janet (Bob) Phillips of Custer, Marianne (Randy) Holmes of Omaha, Carol (Gary) Garrison of North Platte, 2 granddaughters, Angie (Mike) Payne, of Rushville, Pam (Adam) Wackler of Lexington, 6 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
