Lyle passed away on Thursday, June 25, 2020, at the family ranch northeast of Hay Springs, Nebraska. Lyle was born on June 3, 1950, in Rushville, Nebraska, the first of three children, to Ruth Helen (Fuchser) Walgren and William Lyle (“Billy”) Walgren. Lyle lived his entire life in Sheridan County.

From an early age Lyle worked beside his father, and his father’s father on the family ranch. As a fourth-generation rancher, Lyle developed a deep love of the Nebraska prairie, cattle and horses. Lyle attended the rural elementary school (Harmony Home) located approximately three miles east of Hay Springs, as did his paternal grandmother and his father. Following graduation from Hay Springs High School in 1968, Lyle worked at the Chadron Sale Barn and for various ranchers in the Hay Springs area.  In 1975, Lyle began leasing a portion of the family ranch from his paternal grandparents, running registered Herefords. In later years, in addition to ranching, Lyle worked for Dan Otte at Sheridan Livestock Auction and on the Otte ranch, and for Mark Pieper at the Pieper ranch.

Lyle was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Ernest and Ada Fuchser of Gordon, Nebraska; his paternal grandparents, Fred and Maggie Walgren of Hay Springs, Nebraska; his infant brother, Calvin Lee Walgren; and his parents, William Lyle (“Billy”) Walgren and Ruth Helen (Fuchser) Walgren of Hay Springs, Nebraska.

Lyle is survived by his sister, Ada Marlene Walgren of Jenks, Oklahoma, and numerous cousins and friends. Lyle will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.
