Rosann Chilton

Rosann Chilton passed away on June 16, 2019 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, NE.

She was born in Gordon, NE to Frank and Margaret Bornemann on October 20, 1947.

Rosann was married to her best friend and eternal companion George Chilton on November 21, 1970. They were later sealed in the Mesa Arizona Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for time and all eternity on January 30, 1980.

Early in her life, Rosann took dance lessons traveling clear to Rapid City, SD, to participate. She became proficient enough to later give lessons. She even took her dance instructor as her date to her Senior Prom. There they danced the night away much to the amazement of her classmates.

Upon graduating from Gordon High School Rosann attended hairdressers’ school in Rapid City. Although she never went to work as a hairdresser, she was always happy to cut George and her dad’s hair and quite a few missionaries along the way.

Rosann’s greatest love however was always the ranch. She loved to tell stories of she and George’s happenings at the ranch in Wyoming and Nebraska. She served as Nebraska State Cattlewomen’s President and with that responsibility traveled throughout the country promoting the way of life she loved.

Rosann had many talents. She danced, played the piano, and loved to make beautiful jewelry and cross stitch items.

Even though she and George never had any children of their own, they loved the youth of the church and served as second parents for many of them. There wasn’t anything she wouldn’t do to help those in need. Rosann worked at the Ad Pad for many years, served on the Gordon Housing Authority Board, High Plains Community Development Corp Board, Nebraska Commission on Housing and Homelessness, Family Rescue Service, Panhandle Partnership for Health and Human Services and in other service capacities. Rosann felt a great need to give back to her community by serving anyway she could.

Rosann was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Margaret Bornemann and her husband George Chilton. She is survived by many cousins still living both in and out of the Gordon Community.

A memorial has been established for the Gordon Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Unit and donations may be sent to Chamberlain-Pier Funeral Home, PO Box 366 Gordon, NE 69343.
